Diving

Scuba gear, deep water, and what's actually worth bringing up.

A quiet earner for anyone who likes being underwater and away from everyone.

Where to start

First take the job: open your laptop (I), go to Career, and press Take job. The
workplaces only show on your map once it's your job. One job at a time; switching costs a
10-minute wait.

What you need

Scuba gear — a tank and goggles — from the dive shop. Don't go deep without it.

The work

You're looking for what's on the sea floor: wrecks and salvage. Some of it is junk worth a few
dollars, an old boot or a broken CD. Some of it is worth real money — an ancient artifact, an
old compass, a military helmet. You won't know which until you bring it up.

Crates are the other half of it. They take longer to open and they're where the better finds
are.

Getting paid

Per item, at the buyer. Junk covers your air; the rare finds are the reason to keep going out.

Worth knowing

  • Take a boat. Swimming out wastes half your air.
  • Watch your oxygen. Drowning costs you a hospital bill and whatever you were carrying.
  • The deeper water is worth more and is further from help.
