EMS

Ambulance work: reviving people, treating injuries, and running Pillbox.

EMS is whitelisted. It's also the job the whole city notices when nobody is doing it.

Getting in

Apply on the applications page. Good medics are calm and slow — the ones people remember
are the ones who talked them through it rather than sprinting off.

Starting a shift

Sign on at Pillbox and go on duty. Calls come in on O, and 311 is the public number for you
and the fire service.

The work

Someone goes down, you get the call, you get there. /status tells you what's wrong with them,
/heal treats it, and the defibrillator brings back the ones who are gone. Injuries are specific —
a leg wound and a chest wound are not the same patient — and treating the right thing matters.

Pillbox is the hospital. Beds, treatment and checking someone in are all done with Left Alt
inside. People who die and choose the hospital will arrive there whether or not you're on shift, and
they pay for the privilege, so being there to do it properly is the difference the job makes.

Getting paid

A salary every ten minutes while on duty, rising with rank.

Worth knowing

  • You can treat someone before they're fully down. Get there.
  • Public defibrillators exist, so people can be revived without you — but badly, and often too late.
  • Police calls often need you second. Listen to dispatch even when it isn't your call.
