Honest outdoor work in the north, with a proper production chain behind it.
Where to start
First take the job: open your laptop (I), go to Career, and press Take job. The
workplaces only show on your map once it's your job. One job at a time; switching costs a
10-minute wait.
What you need
A powersaw, bought at the lumber yard. They break with use, so factor that in. A hard hat is a good
idea and costs very little.
The work
Fell a tree, then process what you've cut. A log can be debarked, and debarked logs become planks —
each step is worth more than the one before it, so the money is in finishing the job rather than
selling raw logs. Bark, paper and charcoal all come out of the same chain.
Trees regrow, so an area you've cleared is worth coming back to.
Getting paid
Per item sold at the yard, with finished timber worth several times the raw log.
Worth knowing
- Don't sell logs. Process them first.
- Saws break. Budget for a replacement before you're stranded with a full inventory.
- It's quiet up there, which is exactly why some people like it.
